Accomplishments of Eleanor
Eleanor Roosevelt accomplished many great things in her lifetime. She fought for change in others' lives, was active in politics, and expanded the role of women in society. Anna worked to improve others' lives by becoming involved in national events. She was a social worker, volunteer nurse, organized the National Youth Administration, and worked with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. She worked with the underprivileged, tried to better the lives of African Americans, and fought for women's suffrage. Eleanor worked for the greater good of the people. She worked towards equality for all people of the United States.
Eleanor even had her own newspaper column called "My Day", that was printed in 90 papers across the United States. In the column she wrote to spread her ideas and thoughts about race, women, and key events to many Americans. By writing this column, she gave African Americans hope about the future and women were influenced to feel empowered.
From 1945 to 1953, Anna Eleanor was a delegate in the United Nations General Assembly. She was chair of the Human Rights Commission and helped write the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This was considered to be her greatest achievement. Eleanor lobbied for labor laws and pushed for the education of the urban poor.
